Research and Publication Ethics

International Journal of Art and Aesthetics is an academic journal that addresses current research and theoretical discussions in the fields of art and aesthetics. The journal explores the various interdisciplinary aspects of art, providing in-depth analyses in areas such as aesthetic theories, art history, visual arts, music, literature, and performing arts. Discussing both classical and contemporary art concepts, the journal examines the impact of art on society, cultural differences, and artistic production processes. By presenting comprehensive research on themes such as the evolution of art, aesthetic perception, art criticism, and creativity, it makes valuable contributions to art theory and practice.

General Principles

  1. International Journal of Art and Aesthetics is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes two issues per year. Special or additional issues may also be published if necessary.

  2. The journal publishes articles from all areas of the sciences related to art. In this context, it publishes original scientific articles, translations, translated writings, interviews, book reviews, seminar, panel, and scientific event promotion materials, as well as necrology texts. Furthermore, symposium papers may be published if they meet the requirement of not being previously published elsewhere, with the meeting and date recorded.

  3. Articles submitted to the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics must not have been published in any other platform and should not be under review in any other publication.

  4. Authors wishing to submit an article for publication in the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics must register as a member of the Article Tracking System available at www.usved.com and submit their article through this system.

  5. Since the name used for membership will be added to the author section of accepted works, authors must register with the name they use for their academic activities when joining the Article Tracking System.

  6. Adding an article to the journal's electronic system is considered an application for publication, and the evaluation process for the article begins.

  7. All procedures from the submission to publication of the article are conducted electronically.

  8. The publication and printing rights of articles submitted to the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics are transferred to the journal. These articles cannot be republished, reproduced, or used without proper citation in any other publication without the journal's permission. The journal may publish its articles in various media outlets.

  9. Any legal, financial, or ethical responsibility arising from the content of the articles submitted to the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics, even after they are published, lies with the authors. The journal does not assume any liability.

  10. The International Journal of Art and Aesthetics publishes articles in both Turkish and English. Articles in other languages are reviewed, and if deemed suitable by the referees, they are published.

Evaluation Process

  1. After an article is uploaded to the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics system, it undergoes editor review and is then sent to a three-person evaluation committee to begin the peer review process. The identity of the author should not be revealed in the submitted works. The details of the authors will be added by the editors at the publication stage after the peer review process.

  2. Each article uploaded to the system is initially evaluated by the editor or assistant editors for its compliance with the writing and publishing guidelines. If corrections are required, the article will be returned to the author for revisions.

  3. Articles that do not comply with the writing guidelines will not be sent to the referees.

  4. Articles deemed suitable for review based on writing and publishing guidelines are forwarded to referees. At least two referees with expertise in the relevant field are assigned to evaluate the article.

  5. The names of the referees and the authors are kept confidential from each other.

  6. Referees have a maximum of 20 days to evaluate the submitted article. If a report is not received by the end of this period, a new referee will be assigned.

  7. An article with two positive referee reports will be accepted for publication. If one positive and one negative report are received, the article will be sent to a third referee, and the publication decision will be based on their report.

  8. Referees may request to see the revised version of an article before publication if they have requested revisions. If this request is made in the report, the revised manuscript will be automatically sent to the referees by the system.

  9. Authors may contest referee reports with reasonable arguments and persuasive data. The journal management will review the objections, and if deemed appropriate, the views of different referees may be sought.

  10. Authors can track the stage of the evaluation process of their articles through their membership information in the electronic system. It is important to follow the peer review process carefully, as the system allows only one round of changes, and authors should wait for the completion of both referee evaluations before submitting any revisions.

  11. Journal editors carefully follow the revisions suggested by the referees. Based on this, the editors will decide whether the article will be published or not.

  12. The tax, plagiarism report, design, promotion to international indexes, and DOI number assignment for articles to be published in the journal are handled by Asos Eğitim Bilişim Danışmanlık Hiz. San. Tic. Ltd. Şti.

Plagiarism Report

In the academic publication process, it is expected that the International Journal of Art and Aesthetics uses international tools such as iThenticate or Intihal.Net to detect similarity rates and prevent unethical referencing. Other programs, such as Turnitin, which are designed to detect similarity in research reports like assignments or theses, are not suitable for use in the journal. The similarity rate should not exceed 20%.

Research that involves data collection from participants using methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments, or other qualitative or quantitative approaches requires an ethics committee report. For such research, authors must submit an ethics committee report starting from January 1, 2025.
