Since its first emergence, as in other branches of art, numerous works have been produced in the art of opera, which has been constantly evolving and showing changes by being influenced from almost every movement that emerged, and many works of opera have been staged and they have gained their place in the world opera reportoire today. When we look at the compositions of the composers, it is a known fact that female opera composers have fewer numerical numbers compared to male ones. At this point of the matter, the question arises whether the reason for this is due to the superiority of males in skills or the other factors that may have an effect on the numerical fewness of female opera composers. The aim of this study is to address female opera composers in the historical development of the art of opera and to examine the phenomena which may result in conspicuous fewness of female opera composers when compared to male ones. The results of this study are thought to be beneficial for the researchers who will do scientific studies on the, subject.
