Bu çalışmada, Anselm Kiefer’in sanatında yas ve melankoli kavramlarının, eserlerine yansıyışı üzerinden bir inceleme gerçekleştirilecektir. Yas, herhangi bir kaybın ardından meydana çıkan ve belirli aşamalardan geçerek kaybı kabul ettiğimiz, sağlıklı bir süreçtir. Melankoli ise, kaybı çözümleyemez ve kendi iç benliğine zarar vermektedir. Anselm Kiefer üzerine bulunan çalışmalar genellikle travma, bellek, malzeme ve melankoli üzerinden ele alınmıştır. Ancak literatürde, melankoli kavramını açığa çıkaran yas olgusu ele alınmamıştır. Melankoli kavramı tek başına ele alındığında, sanatçının çalışmalarındaki karanlık atmosfer sadece içe çekilmiş bir ağıt veya sadece kendiyle ilgili bir problemin açığa çıkmasından kaynaklı olarak görülebilmektedir; fakat yas olgusu eklendiğinde, bu duygunun belirli bir tarihsel ve somut bir yüzleşme ortamına dayandığı daha açık bir biçimde ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu nedenle yas ve melankoli kavramlarının, beraber ele alınmaması literatürde teorik bir boşluk oluşturmuştur. Çalışma, Kiefer’in sanat anlayışında yasın iyileştirici ve dönüştürücü tarafını neden gözlemleyemediğimizi; melankolinin arkasında, ertelenmiş ve örtük bir şekilde varlığını sürdürmeye devam eden yas kavramını görebilmemiz açısından önemlidir. Sanatçının ürettiği eserler bu bağlamda, hem yasın yüzleşme aşamasını hem de melankoliyi açığa çıkarmaktadır. Çalışmada nitel bir araştırma uygulanarak; doküman analizi, hermenötik yaklaşım ve eserler üzerinden yorumlama gerçekleştirilecektir. Literatür taranarak, yayınlanmış tez ve makaleler, dergiler, sanatçının otobiyografisi ve toplumsal meseleler üzerinden değerlendirilecektir.
The study will examine the concepts of mourning and melancholy in Anselm Kiefer’s art and how they are reflected in his works. Mourning is a healthy process that occurs after any loss and involves going thorugh certain stages to accept the loss. Melancholy, on the other hand, is unable to resolve the loss and damages one’s inner self. Studies on Anselm Kiefer have generally addressed trauma, memory, material and melancholy. However the phenomenon of mourning, which reveasls the concept of melancholy, has not been addressed in the literature. When the concept of melancholy is considered on its own, the dark atmosphere in the artist’s works can be seen merely as introverted mourning or the manifestation of a personal problem; however, when the phenomenon of mourning is added, it becomes clearer that this feeling is based on a specific historical and concrete context of confrontation. Therefore, the faiture to address the concepts of mourning and melancholy together has created a theoretical gap in the literature. This study is important in terms of understanding why we connot observe the healing and transformative aspects of mourning in Kiefer’s artistic approach, and in terms of seeing the concept of mourning that continues to exist in a deferred and implicit manner behind melancholy. In this context, the artist’s Works reveal both the confrontation phase of mourning and melancholy. A qualitative research will be conducted in this study; document analysis, hermeneutic approarch and interpretation through the works will be carried out. The literature will be reviewed and published theses and articles, journals, the artist’s autobiography, and social issues will be evaluated.
