HIERONYMUS BOSCH THE GARDEN OF EARTHLY PLEASURES AND THE SCI-FI FILM EXAMPLE AVATAR

The ongoing interaction between technology and art through various approaches has significantly contributed to the expansion of the boundaries of art by offering artists new perspectives and modes of expression. This transformation, which continues to evolve in close connection with technology, still exerts a considerable influence on the creative processes and artistic approaches of contemporary artists. The aim of this study is to examine the strategic relationship between art and technology through the works of selected artists—Nicholas Schöffer, Olafur Eliasson, Stelarc, Zimoun, and Rafael Lozano-Hemmer—who employ technology as a means of expression in their artistic practices. By analyzing the creative convergence at the intersection of art and technology, the study seeks to contribute to a more nuanced understanding of contemporary art. Grounded in the interplay between art and technology, this research evaluates the impact of technological elements on artistic production processes through selected examples from the aforementioned artists’ works. Based on the findings, it is concluded that technological developments have transformed art into an interdisciplinary, multilayered, and interactive mode of representation. This transformation has not only expanded the possibilities of visualization and expression for artists but also redefined the relationship with the viewer, rendering it more participatory and experience-oriented. Artists who regard technology as a creative component have, at times, transformed their own bodies into artistic objects, challenged the perceptual mechanisms of the audience through technological means, or questioned aesthetic phenomena emerging from both simple and complex technological components. Through such practices, they have introduced new perspectives within the field of contemporary art.
