The Relationship Between Children's Paintings and the Modern Concept of Art

Art is a way of life and will exist as long as there is life. The understanding of modern art expresses the understanding of art from the day the changing social understanding began until today. Modern art is the formation of spontaneous and realistic reflections of form, image, surface and color based on existential philosophy. It is seen that children's drawings consist of similes and metaphors produced by their own inner conversations. In particular, children of kindergarten and primary school age show an advanced level of creativity. Children's drawing has an important place in both the understanding of art and modern art. As a process, the child's linear development, artistic ability and interest should be taken into consideration. When looked at in this context, the fact that children paint as they perceive, rather than realistically, and that they follow an original way while painting shows the relationship of children's paintings with modern art and the source of modern art. In modern painting, there have been painting artists who were influenced by children's paintings or made this effort. Pablo Picasso, Paul Klee, Karel Appel and Cy Twombly are a few of them. Within the framework of this research, the relationship between the works of the mentioned modern painting artists and children's paintings was examined. In the research, the data obtained through the relevant literature review were evaluated and the relationship between the findings and the child's drawing was examined in the context of surface, form and color.
