STYLIZATION AND SYMBOLS IN EXLIBRIS ART

Ex-libris are small-sized art applications that document the owner of the book with signs and are reproduced using  printing  techniques. While people communicate through signs, they have also created a symbolic perception dimension. symbols; It is a tool that opens like a door by those who have the necessary knowledge, intuition and sensitivity and offers ways to reach the "essence" (Uçar, 2019, p. 13).

The first examples are found on rocks and cave walls in the Paleolithic period; The symbols we see in the form of stylized drawings made by carving, drawing and engraving continue to be transmitted in today's modern societies by being shaped in the historical process. The fact that everything visible is stylized and exists in a symbolic language also contributes to the art of ex-libris in terms of communication. The ex-libris, which is the indicator of the owner of the book, has left permanent traces in different geographies and societies throughout history. The stylized symbolic formations of the forms used in the art of exlibris will be discussed in the research, which includes stylization and symbol definitions.
