FILMS INSPIRED BY PAINTING IN VISUAL CREATIVITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF CINEMA AND PICTURE

There are great similarities between cinema and painting, which are the two closest branches in the field of art, especially in terms of visual creation. In its historical process, cinema has been influenced by the art of painting by its nature. The directors who want to deepen their films in terms of both visual and content, while creating a visual world, leaned on the well-known paintings of famous painters. They have used these famous and important paintings from time to time for the mise-en-scène they want to create in their films. There are not many studies examining both art disciplines on how, in what measure and how the directors, inspired by the art of painting and famous paintings, realize this. What happened did not go much into technical analysis. Within the scope of this study, it will be tried to discover how important films in which paintings of famous painters are used are brought together with visual creativity, especially in technical terms. In addition, the subtexts of these tables and the reasons for their use in those scenes will be tried to be revealed. The descriptive analysis method was used to reveal the similarities between the films and the paintings in this study, which was aimed at exploration in the field research. With the examples given in the study, it will be seen that the tables used were not chosen randomly, and each of them made significant contributions. Thus, in some films in the history of cinema, it has been seen how the inspirations from the paintings of famous painters are successful in creating a visual language in the art of cinema and harmonize with the scenes.
