Representation of Women in Westerns: My Darling Clementine Film Analysis


It is stated that the narration of the genre film has prearranged and well-established values. For this reason, the analysis was carried out not only on "My Darling Clementine" but also on the representation of women in Western films, taking into account the narrative characteristics of the genre in which the film takes place.

The masculine discourse in Western films was revealed in the article, which was examined by making use of genre film analysis. Since the preservation of the patriarchal structure is essential in westerns, it has been found that women also take place in Western movies according to him. In the article, which was examined in order to preserve the patriarchal structure seen in all Westerns, it is seen that women are positioned around the home and patriarchal discourses are repeated.
