THE RELATIONSHIP OF ART AND DESIGN IN THE POSTMODERN ERA

Art and design are two concepts that are in constant interaction with each other and cannot be considered separately. Although the interaction develops in the historical process, sometimes in the process of separation and convergence, it is seen that the borders between art and design in the postmodern period are getting closer to each other and come to the point of convergence. Today, the biggest reason for this convergence is the artistic practices that transform design objects into more aesthetic and aesthetic objects into design objects. These applications are encountered more frequently in the art of installation, which emerged and became widespread as an exhibition form based on the design of many different tools and equipment. Installation applications, which emerged as a new exhibition form based on the object-space relationship, make it necessary to review and examine the relationship between art and design. For this reason, the study focuses on the design dimension of the installations as an activity of re-establishing and editing a space, as well as the artistic dimension. It is aimed to examine and interpret art as a design and design as an artistic creation process with an interdisciplinary approach through installation examples as a contemporary art practice. This will be evident with a thematic examination on the selected installation art samples.
