A Research on Perception, Meaningfulness and Memory Creation of the 16th İstanbul Biennial by Students Receiving Art Education


The art, which incorporates change from past to present, which has changed both in terms of form and meaning by being renewed and transformed, has changed with the forms of representation and presentation today and has evolved into a structure that includes the audience. Within this structure, biennials are one of the most important artistic events where contemporary art meets the audience. It is important and necessary for individuals who are studying art to be able to recognize and make sense of the art environment of this era they live in and discover alternative forms of expression. The purpose of this research is to specify the viewpoints of individuals who are studying art, to determine their perspective on the 16th İstanbul Biennial, to see how they perceive the Biennzial and to reveal how much memory they create. The study is important in terms of revealing the results of the students who are studying art education to follow the current art activity. For this, two different questionnaires were applied to 20 undergraduate students of third and fourth grade who participated in the 16th Istanbul Biennial. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the students' views on contemporary art activities and the biennial are highly positive, but their approach is different, remembering, understanding and making sense of most studies.
